Lesson Summary

     Students will learn the major strategies needed to confront climate change. There are many different avenues innovation can take to combat climate change enhancing different products' energy efficiency, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions while transitioning to renewable energies and also promoting sustainable practices.​

Essential Questions:

1. Recall what anthropogenic climate change is?

2. What are some innovative strategies you can apply within the community to reduce greenhouse gas emissions?

3. What are some ways the government at the town, state, or federal level can regulate or change the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced?

4. Are there any ways your community has been affected by climate change? For ex. Flooding, drought, extreme thunderstorms & hurricanes. 

5. How can you tweak your lifestyle to be more sustainable? ( Ex. Transportation, Diet….)​

Learning Objectives: 

Students will be able to...

• Determine how different technologies can solve the problem of climate change.

• Explore the role that the community plays in developing sustainable strategies to combat climate change

• Identify ways that the local, state, and federal government can take measures to ensure companies are working within a legal framework to ensure sustainability. 

• ​Understand the importance of taking the initiative within the household and community and engage in discussions related to raising awareness of climate change.

• ​Familiarize themselves with the different renewable energy technologies and methods that are currently being used in their communities.

• Recognize carbon-neutral related policies and solutions that could be used in their community at the local, state, or federal level.
