Background of Climate Change

Lesson Summary
 
Students will be introduced to the current climate crisis as it has become one of the most emergent challenges of our time. With an increase of record breaking severe weather changes like severe floods, year long droughts, and wildfires damaging the planet and effecting peoples lives we have to put sustainability on the forefront for the future. 

Essential Question 
 
-How am I and the people around me affected by climate change?How can I spread awareness? 
-How does energy production lead to the increase of greenhouse gases?
-In what way does climate change threaten our jobs and communities? 
-What are some ways we can improve the current state of the climate?
-Why has atmospheric carbon emission increased 40% since pre industrial times? 

- How are global temperatures affected by carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions?
 
Learning Objectives
 
Students will be able to:
·       Understand the effects that climate change has on their community and the planet. 
·       Discuss potential alternative solutions to create a sustainable future for the generations to come.
·       Identify the causes of global warming and what the future could look like for humans.
·       Hypothesize and make conclusions about what would continue to happen if carbon emission rates continue at this speed
